The Storm Stalker
The Storm Stalker
The Storm Stalker is a response to impending issues of global-environmental change. In 2100, these issues accumulate and raise the Earth’s temperature, forming severe catastrophic natural disasters throughout the world.
The Storm Stalker is an ocean-based city, developed around three strategies, including responsiveness and ability to transform; mobility of the whole and fragments; and ability to collect, store, and distribute energy.
Responsiveness of the city refers to its three modes of transformation. Firstly, distribution mode – the city during normal weather, located on the water surface. In this mode, the city is opened and expanded to the environment. Secondly, stalking mode – when the city is tracking storm formations and travelling to various storm destinations. The city is compacted and mobility function is activated. Thirdly, harvesting mode – the city is submerged underwater and the energy-collecting devices are sent away to harvest energy from the storm. Mobility is a major aspect of the city as it enables storm-stalking features as well as re-arrangement of the city during transformation.
